The Lone Woman of Channel Islands: Channel Islands National Park

In 1853 a ship arrived to the San Nicolas Island with the intent to remove the last remaining Nicoleno people.  Join us as we tell the story of Juana Maria, an indigenous woman who was forced off the island, but in events that have been retold throughout history, managed to stay. Here in the Channel Islands, despite the grueling conditions, she survived alone for almost two decades before she was ever seen again. Today, historians are still discovering how and the truth behind her mysterious life.
