The Nightingale of the Northwoods: Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness

The last legal non indigenous resident living within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness – Dorothy Molter wore many different hats and was known by many names, most notably “Nightingale of the Northwoods” and “The Root Beer Lady”. Viewed as a woman ahead of her time, she lived life on her own terms 15 miles and several portages from the nearest small town in northern Minnesota. Come along as we get to know Dorothy, her love for the wild and the legacy she left behind.
