The Brutal Murder of Neil LaFave: Sensiba State Wildlife Area
On September 24th 1971, Neil LaFave was shot, killed and decapitated on his 32nd birthday. Working as a conservation technician for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Neil failed to return home for his surprise party from his shift at the Sensiba Wildlife Area. What followed included a months long investigation, a prison escape, shootouts and one of the first wiretaps used in a WI murder case.
